Are you moving to a new house or office and looking for a new electricity connection? If you live in Pakistan or any of its cities or villages, you can get an electricity supply from WAPDA. The Water and Power Development Authority has made getting a new electricity connection very easy for applicants.
But how should one apply for a new electricity connection from WAPDA? There are two ways to apply: online or offline. Both methods are very simple to follow, but most new applicants opt for the online method now. Once you fill out the application form, the WAPDA ENC (Electricity New Connection) team will start the process and install the new connection when all of the criteria are fulfilled.

Online Application Process
Applying for the new electricity connection online is way much easier as compared to the offline process. You can follow the below steps to apply online for an electricity connection:
Offline Application Process
Although a lot of people opt for the online application process, some people still like doing things the old-fashioned way. The offline method is hectic as you will need to visit the office in your area of concern. Here is the complete procedure to apply offline for a new meter:
Category-Wise Steps and Estimated Time
WAPDA has made four different category slabs depending on the required load for the new connection. The details of the steps and estimated time for each category are as follows:
Category One (Up to 15kW)
Consumers who require a load of 15kW or less can apply for Category One. The processing time for this category is around 30 days and SDO/Assistant Manager Operation has the right to approve requests for Category One.
The details for each step are given below:
The office will provide a receipt after you apply. The receipt will have a queue number that you can track to see your position for the process. | 1 Day |
The team will survey the location of the new meter to assess the possibility of providing a new connection. | 3 Days |
If the installation is possible, the total cost will be calculated for installing the meter. | 2 Days |
The customer will get the Demand notice either by post or in person. | 2 Days |
The customer will submit the receipt for the paid demand note to the office. | 2 Days |
The customer will submit the Test Report of Wiring Contractors for verification. | 3 Days |
The office will provide a queue position for the installation depending on the dues submission date. | 1 Day |
The department will allot the orders for installation | 3 Days |
The department will contact the relevant office to offer the required equipment for new installation. | 3 Days |
The department store will offer the required equipment. | 5 Days |
SDO or Assistant Manager will connect with the installation team and set up the new electricity connection when the required equipment is available. | 5 Days |
Category Two (16 to 70 kW / 400 volts)
The consumers that require a load between 16 to 70kW/400 volts can submit their application to apply for Category Two. The application process for Category Two is similar to Category One except it can take around 73 days to install the new meter.
Category Three (71 to 500 kW / 400 volts)
If you require a load between 71 to 500kW/400 volts, you can submit the application to apply for a Category Three connection meter. The application procedure for this category is similar to the other two categories and it may take around 73 days for the installation. However, only the Operation Manager can approve the requests for the Category Three connection requests.
Note: If you require more than 400 volts, you will need to purchase your own transformer to apply.
New Connection Eligibility Criteria
WAPDA offers new electricity connections to all types of consumers, whether residential, industrial, agricultural, or commercial. However, some eligibility criteria are required for all types of consumers. WAPDA requires that you own the premises of the new electricity connection and that it fall under the service area of any WAPDA division.
If the eligibility criteria are fulfilled, consumers can apply for the new connection by filling out the application form and submitting the required documents.
Documents You Need for New Connection Procedure
It is essential to know about the required documents when applying for a new electricity connection with WAPDA. It helps you complete the documents before you start the application process. Here are the complete documents that you require:
Copy of Property Ownership Document: This document verifies that you legally own the location you’re applying for.
Attested Copy of Applicant’s NIC: Consumer needs to submit an attested copy of their National Identity Card for authenticity.
Copy of Neighboring FESCO Bill: This document helps FESCO identify that local grid as well as the tariff category for your location.
Attested Copy of Witness’s NIC: The consumer needs to submit an attested copy of a person who can vouch for the authenticity of your application.
Wiring Contract’s Test Report: This is a certified report from a registered electrical contractor. It ensures that the wiring installed at your location meets FESCO’s safety standards.
Connection Charges
If you’re applying for a new electricity connection, it is important to know the different types of charges that you’ll need to pay during the process. These charges can be different for each consumer depending on the location of the new installation and load requirement.
These charges include a security deposit, connection fees, and meter fees. Moreover, this is a one-time fee that all consumers need to submit if they want a new electricity connection installed at their location. However, applications are not rejected very often, so it is important to know that these charges are non-refundable.

Meter Installation Charges: This is the fee for the new electricity connection meter that will be installed on your premises.
NEPRA Charges: These charges are paid to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority.
Security Deposit: The amount of the security deposit varies depending on the load requirement. However, this is a refundable fee that consumers can collect at the time of disconnection.
Connection Charges: This is a one-time fee for connecting the consumer’s meter to the electric supply company’s primary electricity grid.
Moreover, electric supply companies may charge consumers extra if they require any other necessary wiring or electricity work during the installation process. You can find an approximate amount for the new electricity connection if you need a 1kW load:

Change Connection Name/Tariff/Load
Follow the steps below to change the Connection Name, Tariff, or Required Load:
New Connection Tracking
If you have applied to a new connection, you can track the complete process using the provided Tracking ID. This tracking ID is assigned to all the consumers when they submit the application form.
- Go to the ENC website.
- Open the Sidebar and select the Track button.
- Select the application type: new electricity connection installation or change of load/tariff/name.
- Choose the concerned company for electricity supply i.e. FESCO and LESCO.
- Enter the tracking ID and submit it to track the process.
You can follow the same process if you want to track your application for a change of name/load/tariff.
